Team Nov 27, 2023

Welcome to the latest edition of our company blog! Today, we're excited to share an exclusive interview with one of our brightest stars at Orvium, Adrián San Segundo. Adrián, a mastermind in software development, brings a unique blend of creativity and technical expertise to our team. Get ready to dive into the world of Adrián, where movies like 'Interstellar' fuel his fascination with the universe, and running serves as his therapy. Let's get to know Adrián a bit more!

Your name? (the real one! :)

Adrián San Segundo

Favourite movie?

A hard question to answer every time they ask me about my favorite movie. I don't really know if I'll choose 'Interstellar' or 'The Da Vinci Code.' I love to ponder how the universe was made, how it works, and the laws of physics. It's super interesting for me to know that there are more than three dimensions, and our brain is not programmed to imagine a dimension higher than 3D.

'Interstellar' delves into many aspects of these topics, so I think I'll go with 'Interstellar'.

Do you play music?

No, I don't play the piano myself, but I've always loved the sound of it. My father has been playing the piano since he was young, and he sounds really good.

Perhaps one day, I'll learn to play the piano too.

Last book you read?

'Origin' by Dan Brown.

Do you have any hobbies or favorite sports? (curling is not allowed)

My favorite sport is running. I started in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, but I found it hard to be consistent both running and training. For about three months I would go out running, but interruptions due to injury or exams were frequent.

At the beginning of 2023, I made a commitment to become a great athlete. I established a routine and a training plan and, since then, I train every day. I feel physically fitter, my heart is stronger and, above all, I notice greater strength during races and competitions. For me, running is like therapy.

Tell us a bit more about yourself, how did you get into software development?

At university I studied computer science, but at the end of the course I realized that my passion is Software Development. For me it is like resolving puzzles at every second of the day, my brain is constantly thinking about resolving problems and this job is super entertaining.

It is lucky to be in a work that is my passion, I think I could be programming forever.

What do you love about your profession?

To develop software anyone can use and to make that software useful too. This job is about learning every time. Every day or every week appears new software tools that help developers to work easily.

Also it’s like time flyes when I’m working on software development.

What is your philosophy behind software engineering?

My software engineering philosophy revolves around crafting elegant and efficient solutions, akin to orchestrating a symphony of code. I prioritize clarity, scalability, and adaptability, aiming to create lasting, impactful systems that stand the test of time.

What brought you to Orvium? What do you like about the product?

Definitely the technologies Orvium is using was one of the main reasons. Also how they work in a team, the methodology they use… is super elegant and this is what I was looking for.

Any funny/interesting stories that you can share from your time in Orvium?

Roberto Rabasco asked us to watch The Office series and remind us to watch it everyday. He is a huge fan!
