Meet the team: Interview with Mario Genol

Today we are really excited to introduce you to Mario Genol, our new Software Engineer that joins the Orvium Tech Team to further develop the platform and optimize it. Mario is a Matrix fan and something tells me he will make respect himself inside the company, to know why, please keep reading!

Your name? (the real one! :)

My name is Mario Genol Morales and I was born and raised in the South of Spain.

Favourite movie?

My favourite movie is Matrix, the first one of course.

Do you play music?

Not at all, I'm extremely bad at it.

Last book you read?

Reading is a pending task for me, I haven't done it in a while.

Do you have any hobbies or favourite sports? (curling is not allowed)

I'm quite interested in martial arts, especially kickboxing.

Tell us a bit more about yourself, how did you get into software development?

I have always been into computers, video games and electronics in general. When I had to choose what degree to apply for, the choice was pretty obvious, computer engineering. I have always been attracted to creating and developing my own ideas in a field where there’s so much to discover.

What do you love about your profession?

What I like about my profession is not having to do the same thing every day. I love coming up with new ideas or solutions to real problems.

What is your philosophy behind software engineering?

I have always been the kind of person without any patience at all. In these years that I've been involved in software engineering, I’ve learnt that patience is key in this field. Taking the time to explore all the different possible solutions, tools, opinions, … that's really important.

What brought you to Orvium? What do you like about the product?

Orvium is a new and fresh organization with really innovative ideas. It definitely has a big margin to grow, find its spot in the scientific world and establish itself as one of the biggest companies in what they do. Another reason why I was really interested in Orvium was their tech stack, which I think I can learn a lot from.

Any funny/interesting stories that you can share from your time in Orvium?

I cannot talk about a specific story, but I would like to highlight the fact that everyone in this company has been really nice to me since I first arrived. There are really good vibes in every meeting and that helps a lot building a cool working environment and a great company culture.

That’s a really cool guy here! Thank you for your honest answers Mario. We promise not making bad jokes now we know you like kickboxing :P

The team loves to get you in the team,
